Bushings/Water Proofing

To All:

Can someone tell me if the upper 
and lower bushings in the king pins
for 67 MGB can be reamed at a machine
shop without that expensive tool from
Moss????

Also is there anything that can be put
on a zipper for rear window to prevent
it from leaking in a rain storm???
