Not done this myself but I have a friend who makes a living playing with
LBCs, he has a 1950 engine with a 289 cam, slightly worked head and twin
HS4s in his MGA.

He loves it! Smooth tickover and more power throughout the range, he leant
it to a potential customer for a test drive a while back, the customer
immediately ordered the same engine for his car.

I had another friend in the UK with a 69B with the same engine set-up, I
loved driving that car, it was always difficult going back to a standard
1800 afterwards.

So, my #0.02 ($0.033 US at current exchange rates) is to go for the 1950 for
road use, I would like to go that way myself but having an engine with only
4000 miles on it I find it very hard to justify right now!

Cheers
