work in progress + grnd ?

I am working on putting in a new coil into my 67 Pos grnd MGB. The wire 
going from the batt to the coil was attached at the + terminal and the wire 
that goes to the side of the dist is attatched to the - terminal. Isn't 
this backwards for a pos grnd? I am afraid to lose all the smoke in the 
wires. In process right now and I would like to take it to work in the am 
after a test ride tonight (HELP)
