I did the opposite. My '67 MGB had a 4 synchro later transmission
(non-overdrive) and I converted to a 3 synchro overdrive. I had to unmodify.
Basically it consisted of relocating the high spot in the tunnel, and finding
the right mountings and driveshaft for the year. Only difficulty is that I
still have not been able to make the back-up lights work - no switch on my 3
synchro trans. Oh well, they dont' check that here (Idaho).
