I have a 1960 MGA 1600. The cylinders are overbored to +0.060. I thought the maximum was +0.040 too. None of the usual vendors had +0.040 pistons at the time of my engine rebuild. So I had purchased new liners and standard pistons. The MG mechanic who bored out the cylinders told me there was no problem with +0.060, so I ordered the available pistons. (My crank shaft is now -0.020.) At 800 miles since rebuild, so far, so good. Art DiLello 1960 MGA 1600 |
