Thanks for all the good advice on Maaco. It seems like the general feeling is
not to use Maaco. So I think I will try to paint the car myself. It also
seems like the general opinion is not to use the Tip turbine heated HVLP
sprayer but instead to get a good quality compressor (which I've wanted to
get anyway) and to get a good HVLP sprayer instead. I was advised to look at
the http://www.mgb.bc.ca/reference/painting.html site and it was a big help
in convincing me. But in the article Art Pfenninger says to paint lacquer. Is
this the general opinion of the group or do you suggest an enamel and what
kind? If I do my own painting I want to make sure I will use everything that
will make the job come out the best and also be the easiest for an amateur
painter. Let me know your opinion on paint type and why. What are the
advantages and disadvantages to both?
Thanks again.
