Andy,
Thank you for your response, the w/shield is now off! You are correct you
can only get "just barely" a wrench in between the dash and the bolt. I was
able to work it out about 3/4" and then found it difficult to get back on
the head, especially as the washer keeps sliding down obstructing getting
the wrench on the bolt. I finally resorted to needle nose vice grips loosely
gripping the viewable threads and turned the 2 bolts out the rest of the way
that way. The threads are fine! That was yesterday!
Today the fender came off and I did the repair work to fix the DPO's run in
with a taxi, refitted the new (used) ft fender and installed the new (used)
hood (bonnet). Tomorrow I should have the rest of the bodywork done. I will
then remove the freshly installed fender for walnut stripping and put my mig
to work repairing the rusty sill. Got the paint today, Carmine red! Should
look nice. I'll wait for the weekend to do that.
All sounds good but my customer with the TR-3 in for, sills rockers and
floors has a body sitting in 2 pieces waiting for me to finish my driver!!!
As to the steering wheel, I was sent a URL for a fellow Canadian restoring ,
I think a '76 take a look!! This may be the answer!!!

Thank you for your interest and good luck on your project!

I was asking the same windshield question for my 77 stripdown. On mine
(77) there is just enough room to squeeze in a wrench (9/16 I think) and
get a turn or two at a time. I didn't think this was the case but the
list convinced me, and they were right. I haven't proceeded any further
yet. I have seen "B"s with their windshield removed and dash's in place
so it is possible. If you like I could send you a copy of a lengthy
response I received.
I am interested to hear the results of your steering wheel. I have one
on a 67 parts car I was contemplating for the 77 but don't know if it'll
fit or how to clean it up properly. This would be a next winter project.
Hope I was of some assistance.
Best Wishes & Safety Fast

Hi again listers.....
Took the s/wheel off my '73 B rdstr (it has 3 chrome spokes with the
elongated holes down them.
First - The spoungy rubber has a 1/4 x 2 in chunk missing has anyone
tried
to fill this, and with what?
Second - the spokes were rusty, sos got that off, but there is still
imperfections, it looks like this is a plated steel so I am leery about
taking the 1500 wet and a buffer to it...
Last - trying to remove the w/shield, I've read in the archives it can
be
done without removing/loosening the dash, but for the nut closest to the
cockpit there is NO room of a wrench! Any help would be appreciated!!!
