drive shaft on tow dolley?

 i am going to pick up a parts passable keeper depends on the frame
condition. when towing using a tow dolly do i need to drop the drive
shaft to travel about 170 miles. if so is it to difficult of a task .
i am familer with doping a shaft on a hummer and chevey pu is there
anything special i should know if i do need to drop it. i just don't
want to mess up the car if i decide to restore it and not part it out.
