Fellow Listers:
In the November 1997 issue of ROAD & TRACK there is an article on page
108 by Kim Reynolds in which many of us MGB owners ought to take
umbrage! Especially those of us who smoe pipes and look like Andy
Gump!
Beginning on page 109 and continuing on to page 110 the author extols
the advantages of "karting" in SCCA's SOLO II program as opposed to
campagning "Those old Triumphs, Alfas and MGs..that were cheap and a
ball to drive.." The telling comment appears at the top of page 110
where he concludes the statement with "...are now considered the cars
of curious old men who look like Andy Gump with a pipe." Could it be
that he refers to only the Alfa owners? Where is Peter Egan now that we
need him?
All female and Andy Gumpers should feel personally violated!

Having met many people associated with this pastime - including many of
you
ugly buggers - the man is obviously confusing us with folk who drive
Morgans and Bentleys - in fact, i believe that when ordering a Morgan,
two of
the questions to be answered are "flat cap size" and "pipe-wood
preference"
This of course is in addition to "likelyhood of still being alive when
car ready for delivery"
and "ability to pay the same amount for a car as for a small house"
Just joking chaps!! - really
