Actually photos can be set as attachments with most email software. BUT most
lists do not allow this type of activity as anyone could send anything at
all to
a list and have it go out to hundreds of listees. Among the things which can be
sent to a list as an email attachment are any number of viruses. Obviously, the
email can not be a virus, but the attachment could easily be an executiable
virus.

On top of that, the amount of bandwidth used if everyone began to send photos
along with their postings would be staggering and bring the listserver to a
screeching halt.

This type of activity is best carried on off the list, in private, so the
reciepent
knows and expects the attachment. If someone has a photo they would like to
share and lacks the server space to put it on the web, maybe they could post
that they have a photo they would like to send to interested parties and then
wait for the "me too!" responses to roll in.
