Gentlemen:
Had a '72 MGB in today (the owner returning some borrowed tools)
which has had ENTIRE front end (except mounting member) rebuilt - even the
inner swivel bars (one had a crack) and he was complaining of similar noises.
Knelt down and eyed as he started & backed up - thought I saw exhaust pipe
move --- raised bonnet - found one head pipe to manifold stud/nut-bolt/nut
not EVEN around and the corner of the head pipe fractured (i.e. ear missing)
but with just enough snugness to keep exhaust noise from happening.
Regards,
Ed
