MG BGT engine number

Today I spotted a 1974 MGBT in a car lot, stopped to look.  It is
complete, but way over priced when the rust is considered.  I have a
question for the list about engine numbers.  The VIN is GHD5UE360060G
this appears to be correct for a 1974, but the engine is 18CK-WE-H 8793. 
My guess is the engine isn't even a MG engine.

Any comments?
