Bearings of alternator

Anyone out there know where I can get bearings for lucas alternator.  I
took my belt off today and rotated my alternator.  I can hear the bearing
inside and they are shot.  While driving I can hear the alternator's
bearings whining.  Is bearing replacement something I should try myself or
should it be left to the pros.  Also, if I was able to get a size, could
someone recommend a place where I can find replacements, or is this
impossible?
