caliper rebuild

Hi All,

When rebuilding MGB front calipers, is it easier just to split the halves of
the caliper and then reassemble using the special kit with o ring and bolts?
 Some say not to split apart the caliper, but others say its easier to do a
thorough cleaning and reassembly by splitting the two halves.

Any comments, opinions, or tips appreciated.  Thanks.
