Dave,
            I'm not sure how high Lagru's crossmember sits, but
 my T5 with a Hurst shifter is sitting so that the top bolt hole on the
shifter is above the tunnel and the bottom hole is just below .
         I'm making Tri-Y headers that go throuh the fenderwell
and seem to have plenty of room.
