Subject: Cooling the beast
There seems to be little formal data on cooling MGBs when a V8 is dropped
in. I have been battling the problem and juggling CFMs with space, water
pump mods, dropping sway bars and a myriad of other things. Would those
who have running V8s like to contribute towards a loosey-goosey data base
on cooling by filling in the details below.
Engine #1 4.2 Rover, mild cam #2 215 Buick, mild cam
Radiator #1 aluminum 1 1/4" tube copy of '65 Mustang #2 '77 MGB tanks 2"
longer high eff. core
Mechanical fan Y/N never, never, never. Suitable only for stationary
engines at constant speed
or non- performance vehicles, like your Mothers 1965
Plymouth 4 door.
Air Conditioning Y/N #1 yes #2 yes
Electric fan
         size (dia of blade) #1 & 2 16", 3000 cfm
         rated CFM
County/Province/State Maryland/DC, USA
Performance
         A = Absolutely fine
B = Fine but could be better B+, won't handle A/C in traffic over
95`
C = Needs to be improved
