Went to fire up the TD after sitting in the garage all winter. I first just
checked the ignition to see if I had to open the bonnet to attach the
battery cable... yup... fuel pump started ticking really eratically. BTW,
this is the electronic version of the SU pump...
I pressed the little button on top of the the bowl to see if any fuel would
come out... nope.
I disconnected the outlet side to see if there was anything coming up...
nope.
I disconnected the inlet side of the fuel pump and took compressed air to
clear the fuel line... fuel cap poped open... clear.
Removed fuel pump from car... removed fuel filter, cleaned.
Removed solinoid, checked diaphram for rips... none.
Reinstalled fuel pump, beats normally... no fuel...
Let it tick for 15 seconds.... then again for another 15 seconds... still no
fuel...
checked the tank... half full.
checked the connection on the tank... not leaking... tight.
I guess the only thing that is bugging me and now that I typed this all
out... is I usally fill the tank in the fall before storage... I will check
for a leak... maybe pulling air somewhere... but you would think I would
smell fuel while I was on the floor under the tank....
any suggestions?
