Peter,
The Service Parts List shows the canvas hood as part #MB22174 from the
beginning, chassis 0501, and changing to part #271188 at chassis # 20374
for LHD cars. Side curtain numbers change at that chassis number also.
Also changing at chassis 20374 were "Vibak panel-front curtains" "Vybak
panel-rear curtains" and "Vybak panel-hood". What is Vybak? The
plastic window material?
Looking up this stuff, that I had hoped might be useful in answering
the question about two versions of two-bow top (seems that there was only
one) I also found that at chassis #22315 the windshield changed as did
the frame. Book does not say what the change(s) was(were) but reference
is made to "toughened" and "laminated" Since the EXLNA cars were
supposed to have laminated glass, perhaps this was a standardisation of
glass? But the frame changed also. Why would that be?
Complicating the question of your getting a bum set of sidecurtain
covers could be 1) mismarking TF sidecurtains as TD, 2) that the top on
your car might not be the correct one, 3) that other switchable bits have
been switched.
Bring the car and the sidecurtains to the Pre-Columbus day drive
tomorrow, 0930 at Lyman Orchards. We can compare with other TDs and TFs
there.
