Hi,
As some on the list may remember, the transmission in my '52 essentially
blew up back in November of last year. If you've been on the list for a
while you know that this is the third time it's happened.
I found a guy up in PA that I can trust to re-build it, and he reports that
along with many, many little things wrong with the last re-build the
following major items are kaput:
-Cluster Gear
-1st Gear
-2nd Gear
-Sliding hub, 1st/2nd gear.
I'm still waiting to hear about the 1st motion shaft and the reverse gear.
Anyway, list on these parts is up around $1500, and I'm probably looking at
$2500 to get it properly re-built in total.
So, I'm looking on e-bay and I find a TD tranny that's going for around $300
as of now, but even if the price triples it'll be cheaper than what I'm
looking at, but having been burned before I'm not about to bid on something
that the owner knows nothing about, (see the ad for an explanation).
However, I was wondering if anyone on the list has any of the parts I was
looking for in serviceable condition? Even a complete old tranny would do
if the owner knew what was going on inside of it...
Any help appreciated. I'm once again away from home on active duty, so I
have time to keep looking, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
