Hi MMM experts,

Anyone currently have their water pump on the bench?

In fitting up my water pump, it will not draw up tight to block. This leaves
an approx. 1/8" gap. I first thought there might be a missing spacer of some
kind but now wonder if shaft on pump is correct?

It was sold to me a rebuilt ... externally and internally looks good and has
not been fitted since rebuild. Model # molded into casing is MG 348 I 109 BA

Pump shaft enters block as expected and (with a little jiggling) the worm
gear seems to engage and slide on in without undue pressure. It simply feels
like it is "bottoming out" too soon.

I tried backing off the oil pump and dizzy just a bit in the hopes that a
few wiggles would allow it to fully engage in nose piece but no luck.

I need water pump shaft dimensions please?

Mine measures 3-15/16" from base plate to end of steel shaft
Brass gear starts at 2-3/4" and extends to 3-1/4" with 1/4" collar and
retaining pin beyond.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Don B.
