aluminum rods vs steel

I would think that aluminum rods fail quicker than steel  because of the 
constant change of direction of the piston, rings and piston pin  associated 
with 
high RPM loads.  The connecting rod is constantly being  streached, compressed 
by the piston trying to go through the head and out the  bottom of the 
crankcase.  Aluminum work hardens and fatigues alot quicker  than a steel rod.
