I love the self darkening.  I bought a cheapo on sale at harbor freight and it 
worked fine just long enough for me to know that it's the way to go.  After a 
few months, it started getting either too dark, or too light, and is hard to 
run a decent bead, but I'm sure a quality helmet would last a lot longer.  I'm 
going to buy a good one soon, so I'm anxious to find out what response you get, 
and which one you end up getting.

Yes quality and replacement parts are part of the decision but when the 
current project is done I'm not going to be welding everyday or week.

I like the Hornell Speedglas line but don't think I'd use it enough to 
justify the cost. Are the real low cost helmets mostly junk?
