The reasons that this may not happen is EGO on the part of the project
leader (and or driver) and the size of the design committe - who may
produce the camel rather than the thoroughbred.

Apart from these pitfalls, I am sure Andy Green would like to see an early
challenge for the supersonic World Land Speed car record & perhaps its
'return to the USA'.  Sam Wheeler and others may go quicker with another
bike project pushing them.  And the UK projects of 'Cyclone' and 'Maximum
Impulse' would relish the challenge from a thrust powered US machine.

Of course if the Bonneville salt remains a lake you might want to go for
the Aussie held water speed record of Ken Warby?
