Hi Mayf,
The main chute that we used in 2001 was specifically designed for a 250 MPH
deployment. When deployed at 270 MPH the chute "kited" ....same, I think,
as skying? When the speed got down to about 250, (I have video) the chute
stabilized and followed behind the lakester in well mannered form......just
as it was designed. On the one run that we deployed the drogue at the 5
(270) and then the main chute at about the 5 1/2 or 6, the main canopy was
stable, as I recall being told. So the deployment speed must have properly
been in the 250 range.

New stuff: When completed, the new aft body on the car will have
hydraulically retractable high drag spoilers on the top of the "rear
fenders" (somewhat like a funny car rear box) for downforce to the 1 1/2 or
2 and then to help stop from 300+
If you think that it will help your analysis, I can give you the chute
canopy dimensions involved, shroud length, etc. or I will bring the chute
with me to Pahrump next trip. Also the new one that is designed to deploy
at 350. The car will have 3 chutes (one additional)....high speed (over
350) drogue, 350 canopy and 250 canopy.
