Wes, List,
I did not turn on my computer until after 6 PM and I am sitting here
stunned. I can't find words.
I have only been going to the salt for twenty years but had lot's of good
conversations with Nolan and certainly respected him for his determination
and ability.
We have been so safe, or is it lucky, for so long that we sometimes tend to
forget how violent this sport we love is.
The little things come to mind now. After Speedweek and Nolan's new record,
I waited until things settled down around his car and then shook his hand
and congratulated him on a terrific run.
That will be the last time I see him and I will remember him with a smile on
his face and a lifetime goal accomplished.
God Speed Nolan, you will be missed.
Best wishes to Rick and the whole family,
Howard Nafzger
