I know this sounds goofy but I spray my plastic inner fenders
with Armorall and it keeps the salt from sticking. The wetter
the better.

Isn't this the same theory as spraying the undercarriage of your truck and
trailer before driving on the lakebed. This is to ease the cleanup and rusty
bolt syndrome after the event.
