In motorcycle roadracing you're required to put your VIN number down if you 
claim contingency money.  
Occasionally someone will go in for warranty work and get hit 
with the "no racing" clause.

Jon, I think I have the answer to your question. Last month, after our local
Corvette club meeting, a friend recounted this tale over a brew at the local
Pub.... He had been racing his 2001 Z06 at a local "open track" event, and
the
car lost oil pressure. He trailered it to the local Chevy dealership,
described
the problem, and dropped the car off. The next day, the GM District Rep.
called &
said his warrenty was void because he had been racing his car. He charged
down to
the Chevy dealer and confronted the guy with the question "how do you know
what I
do with this car?" Then the real shocker: The GM guy opened his briefcase
and
produced a loose-leaf binder with all of Steve's racing results for the past
couple of years!!!!!!!!!
