Alternator

While we are kicking all this electrical power
stuff around.  Has anybody used an import one
wire alternator on their car.  I was going to
pick up one of the GM one-wires, and thought that
maybe there is a smaller, or higher output, or
just better unit available from some import car. 
I want to go one-wire so I can get rid of the
remote regulator and 99 miles of wire under the
hood.  Gotta be a v-belt drive.
