       My experience was that they were only marginal for boat anchors. The 
3.3 X 4.4 B/S ratio with 3 mains didn't exactly lend itself readily to 
anything beyond "stump-pulling".
       I had a 49 Ford 6 cyl. coupe that could beat most of the stock Flatty 
V/8's, as well as a 51 Ford 6 cyl. pickup. They wouldn't last as long as the 
Flatty V/8's and had no personality (narrow power band, no top end, etc.).
       The later 240/300 series 7-main bearing OHV Ford 6's run much better 
and I'm told have more potential than the 7-Main bearing GM 6's.....Ardun
