Hi Scott. ARDUN Doug spelled my name right. I'm also the guy that loaned
George a 110-weight for ballast in 1988. It evidently didn't help him

Scott,
If you were with George Campbell the first year he ran the
Salt-Circus
XX/STR in 1988 you'll remember us. We had the #113 Ardun powered black
primered XX/STR that ended up with the record when George "holed" a piston
on
the first or second leg of his record run.
We qualified at 143+ on our own (previous day's) 139 or so record.
George, after thrashing all week, qualified at 151 and should have had the
record were it not for the piston hole.
The next year or so either George substituted Hank LaShea's(sp)
little
Chevy 12 port in the Salt-Circus roadster, they split the class to give the
Ardun its own group, or Mel Tull and the Buick Straight "8" powered 32
XX/STR
bombed the mark to 169. I can't remember which scenario happened, but we
ended up with the record until 2000 when "Hayseed" Dave Thomssen(sp) bumped
it to 153 with his Ardun powered 27"T" street
roadster.........................Ardun Doug King
