Paul,
Boy do I understand. I wish I knew more about that stuff myself. I also have
a stack of books on aerodynamics and fluid dynamics under the night stand in
the bedroom. I am a true amateur but always trying to learn more. I have a
miniature camera mounted op on top of the vertical fin on my car. It feeds a
12v. VCR in the cockpit. I'm going to use black yarn and maybe some oil on
the car so I can see what the air is doing at speed I purchased some small
vortex generators that can be taped or super glued on the car to try and
address problem areas.
As I understand it, vortex generators themselves cause drag but they also
re-attach separated airflow so the total effect could be positive if they
are only used where needed. Hopefully I can find out where they are needed
with the camera and some oil trails.
If I'm all screwed up, speak up guys,
Howard

P.S. I wandered how Dale Earnhardt got killed in an accident that appeared
less than many he had walked away from. Jim Diest and I were talking last
night and his injuries were not consistent with the type of impact we saw.
It's a real tragedy that the accident maybe was not avoidable, but the
consequences were.
