Lori, welcome to the fraternity - -uhhh, uh, I
mean, uhh - - group! Don't even think about
apologizing for writing too much. That's what
this place is for. EVERYBODY contributes, and we
all benefit from it. And don't be embarrassed
about selecting the wrong gear. Maybe other guys
won't admit it, but I've heard some cars do some
pretty impressive revving about half way down the
track before they finally "found" the next gear.
I've even heard that kind of sound on the videos
of some really fast streamliners at Bonneville.
I'm not quite a rookie any more, but I had to
click it forward one more notch on my first run
Saturday when I realized it wasn't shifting to
third! Shoot, even if you made the first run in
low gear, you would still have done something
that thousands of gearheads only dream about!
You ran the line!

Welcome aboard
Dick J

By the way, my 15 year-old daughter is the one
who took the picture of your car that I sent to
you. She can't wait to get her license so she
can race too. She'll be snooping around to visit
with you in the spring, I'm sure.
