Well folks it has taken me to late Monday to really settle down from
what all I learned and taken in since going to my first land speed
race. I just wanted to drop a few notes and thank yous. I was really
impressed with the way ECTA handled the event. They appeared to be
handling everything very well and the preparedness was apparent. Maybe
behind the scenes everything wasn't so rosy, but they didn't let it
show. Everyone I met was very friendly. Lots of people stopping by the
So Al Special where I hung out almost all day. The list was mention by
most everyone coming by. Boy did Keith really draw a crowd when two
plug wires got accidentally crossed and fired it up. Don't know how
that happen huh. I was made to feel really welcomed. No question that
I had went unanswered except Brads answering my question with 4
questions. Still haven't figured out what gear to run Brad. All in all
it was a very enjoyable and learning day. None of the hectic thrashing
I have seen in circle track or drag racing. I know there were a few
having to thrash, but that's normal. If you don't break something your
not pushing hard enough. Now for all the thank yous. Keith first off
thanks for hauling all that junk up here, still owe you and Brad
dinner next trip up. Also thanks for letting me twist a few wrenches
for you. It made me feel like I really fit in, not just a spectator
who didn't know anything. I promise next time not to tighten the valve
covers so tight. And Keith my wife sends her thanks too for including
her in the days activities even though she was under the weather she
didn't complain too much. Brad thanks for being so tolerant on
unloading all that stuff cant call it junk any more. Great idea on
using the car ramps to lift the trailer. For those of you that missed
it the scene of us loading a pallet loaded with 2 V6s neatly stretched
wrapped onto a small 4x8 trailer by 6 men would have made America's
funniest videos. Thanks to all the guys that supplied the muscle and
pitched in. Also I need to thank the guys that gave me the wonderful
support in building an F motor. At first I thought it was a hair brain
idea to take on such a task with such an odd motor, but the words of
support prove different. Rich and Jeff I enjoyed meeting you all great
to put some faces to some email now. Well now that have succeeded in
achieve a national or is that a world or regional record for writing
the longest email to the list I will leave with this small note. I
cant wait till next month. Now where is my OSCAR.

BillB
Ps: By the way Keith the official team name has been picked
"Steppin Out Racing"
and having fun doing it!
