Group, Re Junkers aircraft diesel engine, I recall an article in an
aviation history magazine a while back describing a Russian WW2 bomber
design which was made in small numbers at first with a diesel engine.
They were concerned to get maximum range to bomb Germany.  But the
concept was a miserable failure because the engines were not reliable
and killed a lot of aircrews before being dropped.  ArdunBill
