Hi Folks. I'm a few weeks late with this but my Vertex complained the
other day that it got 'dissed' when there was a discussion of racing
ignition and MSD won the day.
For Arduns at least most of the Bonneville records were set using Vertex
mags. Elmo Gillette told me all the Lattin-Gillette records were set
using nothing else. I believe my friend Ardun Doug uses only the Vertex
on his racing engines.
People with white hair like me recall that for the 25 years before about
'80 a Vertex was standard issue on practically every blown fuel dragster
everywhere.
The Vertex and its parts are still in production and specialists like
Don Zig seem to be able to take care of them with no trouble.
There's still something to be said for the self-contained mag which
requires nothing else but a grounding switch to cut it on and off. I
plan to use mine and I expect it to give the same good service they have
for 50 years on all the other Arduns. Regards from ArdunBill in the
