I purchased my BJ7 from its original owner who had bought it new in 1963.
In 1965 he decided to take it SCCA racing and when I got the car it had
triple HD8s and a BJ8 cam. He told me he had bought the carb set-up from
"Healey of Canada". I did some research on the carb and manifolds and found
the numbers matched to ones allowed for SCCA racing and were in some Healey
literature parts lists. I found the carbs were great at wide-open throttle
(like you'd use on track) but lacking in acceleration at lower speeds. If I
were going to fit triple SUs on a road car, I'd probably stick with HD6s
rather than HD8s.
