i taught myself to use the aluminum sticks i buy at harbor freight.  it is 
tricky and requires precise control of the heat.  i 
practiced  few hours before tackling the holes in the shroud.  the bigger the 
hole the harder to close up.  the metal is quite 
a bit harder than the aluminum you are repairing so be careful grinding it 
smooth.
