Hi Simon-
FWIW Try the simplest thing first, just switch the problem cap & damper
with either one of the other two. If this still occurs with that particular
cap & damper the threads may be slightly stripper on that one.
(The replacement brass cap & damper assembly is about $33 ea. and the
plastic cap & damper assembly is about $22 each.)
