My modest proposal...
Stay off the Interstates.
I've criss-crossed the country, using secondary highways and such, as much
as possible. With a little planning, you will lose very little time per
trip. Top down, see more & hear more of the sights & sounds of the
country-side and small towns.
I will concede that sometimes I have to use a connecting Interstate and
while there, plugging my left ear is a frequent necessity.
