[Healeys] 100-4 balance tube

The seal on the balance tube is not what it looks
 like , it is made of a thread like material that has been wrapped  
 with a very thin and narrow piece of what looks like aluminium
 then it looks like it was wrapped around the balance tube... 
 has any body taken this seal apart ???  Norman Nock
