When trying to eliminate excess play in the steering system please check the
right hand side steering idler. Check the expected wear on the brass bush
diameters (2 bushes) but also the end play shimming or adjustment. Excess
vertical movement in the idler will mean the right hand side wheel may not
respond directly to your steering inputs. This may appear as steering box
problems. The idler shaft bushes are more likely to 'hammer' themselves out of
diameter rather than wear from rotation which is limited and low speed. The
right hand side sees more bumps and road damage impacts than your left. As Pat
Quinn would draw to your notice it is all opposite hand 'down under'
