I wanted to go check my car to be sure my feeble ol' fart's mind wasn't 
playing tricks on me.   :-)   I  have the original rubber piece 
separating the two, as well.  In fact, it would seem very unusual not to 
have something between them.  I have BN1L 147342, Body # 663 and made 5 
Nov.1953.  It came to me in very original form from the first owner.
I know the owner of # 484 is on this List.  Maybe he'll chime in, too?
