| I ran a flex fan for a few years (along with the shroud BCS sells).  It is 
indeed
good for a few extra degrees of cooling, but I got tired of the noise at idle
and slow speed (at higher speeds, it flattens out and doesn't make noise).
My Texas Cooler has a distinctive howl as well, but it's not as noticeable as
a flex fan (at least not yet).
