Manifold casting plug

     What is the best way to handle this casting plug as far as preventive
maintenance.   Is there a contemporary permanent fix for this plug that
someone can suggest?  Since this a bit of a heat generated area I assume that
a little more than a new plug and Hylamar is necessary?
