Racers,
This is getting real... Yesterday a contingent of our ranks descended
upon Lime Rock's storied racetrack and participated in the Test Day.
They familiarized themselves with the famous 1.6 miles of track, and it
was smiles all around.
To paraphrase Chuck Gee, he felt the preparation he did to learn the
track really helped, when he saw it from the driver's seat the first
time things fell right into place. For those first timers who were
unable to run test day, I hope you feel the same come Friday!
Thanks to Mike Harmuth who managed to tech all FOT Triumphs in the
paddock, that should make life easier for everyone on Thursday when we
need to get everyone teched before the race car Parade.
Those participating in the Parade need to be ready to line up at 4:30
for a 5PM departure. For those not participating, the parade stops a
couple miles from the track in Falls Village for a street fair. Well
worth the trip over to Falls Village to take in the sights, enjoy some
food and libation, the live music, etc. There is adequate parking
available for your street cars and tow vehicles, but you will want to
drive over there around 5:15 to be assured you are not walking a mile to
the village!
Also on Thursday, a track orientation talk is available to new-to-Lime
Rock drivers and those who have not driven the new Pit-in Configuration.
It will be presented by Simon Kirkby, the Lime Rock Drivers Club
Director at 2:30pm under the Tower. Please plan on attending if
possible.
Safe travels to those in route or preparing to depart, looking forward
to seeing everybody on Thursday!
