[Fot] Differential cross shaft pin retention

Hi FOT;
On two different cars Iâ??ve had the small pin that holds the cross shaft in 
place come loose. (One a street stock TR3B, the other a 4A race car.) What is 
the collective FoT wisdom for  methods of locating the cross shaft or keeping 
the retaining pin in place?
