My guess would be the motor is still good, do a hot compression test first =
though. A leak down test works the same way. As a side not, Ferrari of Atla=
nta does customer repair leak downs cold and car sales hot, what a scam.

If you can barrow a leak down tester that is still the best tool to assess =
engine health.=C2=A0 I also change oil filters after each race and cut it o=
pen to see what is trapped inside.=C2=A0 =C2=A0A well built TR race motor c=
an easily do double those hours on the bottom end.=C2=A0 In my opinion the =
key to long tern motor health, assuming a good build, is a high quality rac=
e oil.=C2=A0 My choice is Joe Gibbs Driven XP-3 10-30, I have bearings that=
 look almost new at 50 hrs. using this oil.=C2=A0 No such thing as =E2=80=
=9Ccheap=E2=80=9D racing oil.=C2=A0 =E2=80=9CNever be beaten by parts=E2=80=
=9D K. Kastner.

I finished a 9 weekend race/school/track day season that started in April a=
nd finished at Thompson in October with no obvious performance problems. To=
tal of 38 engine hours including warmup, grid, race, cool down.=C2=A0

Did a dry compression test today:
  =20
   - 210
   - 225
   - 195
   - 200

 =C2=A0

I get some oil blow by at the valve cover cap and maybe some drips from low=
er end seals (not sure if oil starts at valve cover).=C2=A0

 =C2=A0

I=E2=80=99m sure I=E2=80=99ll hear a suggestion to do a leak down test and =
/ or wet compression.=C2=A0

 =C2=A0

Oil filter forensics?

In the absence of obvious issues, how much of a tear down is warranted?=C2=
=A0
