Does anyone have a complete TR-3 distributor laying around?=C2=A0 I need to=
know the dimension from the bottom of the distributor housing, where it si=
ts on the block (without the hold down clamp) to the bottom of the drive ge=
ar (ignore the 2 tabs which interface with the drive gear).
In my race car, I used a Datsun B210 electronic distributor as my backup ig=
nition.=C2=A0 Primary was a crank trigger.=C2=A0 This Datsun distributor sl=
id right into the hole in the Triumph distributor pedestal, But the shaft w=
as a little bit longer.=C2=A0 So, I had to shim it with a spacer between th=
e bottom of the distributor body, and the distributor housing.
I recently picked up a new Datsun distributor on Ebay, and I am preparing t=
o put it in my street TR-3.=C2=A0 I'm trying to get all the preparations do=
ne before I take the Lucas distributor out of my TR-3, as I drive it regula=
rly.=C2=A0 The dimension I need (above) will allow me to make up a spacer o=
f the correct thickness.
Bryan Braselton, if you read this and still have the distributor setup I ha=
d on the car, maybe you can measure the thickness of the shim between the d=
istributor and the distributor pedestal (I think it was about 5/16" thick).=
=C2=A0 That will save me from doing the calculation.=C2=A0 I have a wiring =
diagram for this electronic distributor setup if anyone is interested.=C2=
=A0 The Datsun distributor was about $65 on Ebay.
Thanks for any help you can give me with this.
