Chicago is a mess during daylight hours. If you take 1-80 to I-39 (well east of
Chicago) and go north from there to Rockford it's much more reliable. At 4 am
the Chicago route can be 30 minutes quicker. Most other times it's the same or
slower than the much more relaxing drive up the entirely rural I-39.
