Shaping up to be way too much fun. The racing schedule is downright
daunting. Qualifying, two practices, four races and the Battle of Britain
Handicap Race. Literally hours of track time.
Looks like the overwhelming majority of the Saturday night block party
attendees are coming in vintage outfits. The vintage clothing stores in
Portland and Seattle have done a booming business. I tried to buy a smoking
jacket (I'm going as Hugh Hefner--with my own collection of Bunnies) on
Saturday, and every place I went to the owners were blown away by how much
business they've been having. Should be very cool.
On Friday we're having four CanAm cars in downtown Portland, including a
STREET LEGAL T70! We're going to take some reporters and anchors for laps
around the Portland Park Blocks. I haven't exactly cleared all this with the
police. My next posting might be from the jail library.
We're going to have a houseful of friends, family and guests. Ought to be
pretty wild around here. I'm going to try to take Peyote to the track in the
Airstream, even though it's not actually done. If the tongue weight is
reasonable I'll use it and just tie everything down--it's a short trip to
PIR. It's not exactly registered yet--another thing that might lead to the
slammer. Ah well, you've got to have a little risky biz, especially if
you're going to a party with 1200 people in a pair of black silk PJs and a
smoking jacket.
If you're within reasonable flying or driving distance and trying to figure
out what to do for Labor day, then come. You can camp out in the back yard,
or the airstream, or maybe the couch. The house is _REALLY_ full.
Have fun whatever you do.
